DOX:FORUM FAQ

WHAT IS DOX:FORUM?

Launched successfully in 2007 DOX:FORUM is an exclusive 3-day distribution forum and market event running in conjunction with CPH:DOX.

DOX:FORUM has been launched to explore other distribution possibilities for documentary film than TV and focuses on theatrical as well as alternative distribution venues as online platforms, museums and art galleries.

WHAT GOES ON?

DOX:FORUM presents a tightly packed program of project presentations, pre-arranged one-on-one meetings between film makers and distributors, matchmaking events and a line-up of seminars and master classes.

As a brand new thing in 2009, DOX:FORUM will also introduce direct sales presentations of world premiering titles.

WHO IS DOX:FORUM FOR?

DOX:FORUM is for filmmaking teams with projects in production or post production; for filmmaking teams with a world premiering title; and for distributors, buyers, festival directors. programmers from alternative exhibition venues, representatives from online platforms and sales agents.

For filmmakers DOX:FORUM is an excellent opportunity to introduce an upcoming documentary to international decision makers, thus enhancing distribution possibilities for the films.

For distribution platforms. DOX:FORUM is a priority chance for discovering the next big title on the international market before it hits the big winter and early spring venues.

HOW MANY PROJECTS ARE SELECTED and WHAT HAPPENS IF MINE IS ONE OF THEM?

Up to 15 new, nearly or recently finished documentary films will be selected for presentation in moderated individual 20 minute presentation sessions during the Forum days. Should your project be one of them, you will receive a list of materials needed for the catalogue. You should also start planning for your trip to CPH.

IS DOX:FORUM A PITCHING FORUM or HOW WILL I BE PRESENTING MY PROJECT?

At DOX:FORUM you will introduce your project in two ways:

A: As a presentation or moderated talk taking place in front of all Forum participants. You have 30 minutes at the round table with the company of two wonderful moderators and a small panel of distributors representing different distribution outlets and composed to meet and match your project. 30 minutes to introduce your project, screen some visuals and engage in dialogue with the panelists.

B: As you like in the 8 to 10 one-on-one meetings guaranteed you during the Forum days.

DO I HAVE TO BOOK MEETINGS MYSELF?

Please do, but we guarantee you 8 to 10 individual meetings with representatives from different distribution platforms, based on your wishes and our expertise.

HOW WILL I KNOW WHICH PLATFORM SUITS MY PROJECT?

Opening each session of presentations, the panelists are asked to introduce themselves and their platform. Thus turning the table, the Forum gives new and interesting platforms an opportunity to introduce themselves to the industry and a chance to discuss new strategies and ideas with content providers and other distribution outlets. In addition, distribution platforms are presented in the DOX:FORUM catalogue.

SHOULD I ATTEND THE FORUM SEMINARS?

Mixing project presentations with seminar sessions focusing on current distribution issues is integral to the DOX:FORUM, making it not only a marketplace, but also a forum for education and knowledge sharing. SO yes!
