DOX:LAB is a training, market access and production programme for selected international filmmakers. The programme, now in its third year, is focused on training / project development, pitching events at international co-production markets, and subsequent production. Establishing long-term professional relationships between European and non-European filmmakers is one of DOX:LABs main objectives.

At the core of the project lies an actual match and subsequent meeting of a European and non-European filmmaker. The filmmakers are paired in teams of two, and invited to develop and produce a film with a development grant raised by CPH:DOX.
DOX:LAB has been running as a pilot since 2009. The 2009 / 2010 edition has been hugely successful in establishing long-term professional co-production relationships as well as inspiring filmmakers to work on a cross-cultural basis. The 2010 / 2011 edition has evolved from being a talent programme into an internationally recognized programme for young, experienced filmmakers with an international career. While we are still focusing on filmmakers who are at the beginning of their careers, we have decided exclusively to involve filmmakers with strong international potential, exemplified by Accidentes Gloriosos, the DOX:LAB film co-directed by Marcus Lindeen (Sweden) and Mauro Andrizzi (Argentina), which recently won the Orizzonti Award at the 68th Venice International Film Festival 2011.
The programme is conducted in cooperation with Aarhus Festuge and supported by Media Mundus, The Obel Family Foundation, The Danish Film Institute, The Swedish Film Institute, and the Danish Centre for Culture and Development. Our international partners are Buenos Aires Lab, Dubai Film Connection, Screen Institute Beirut, and Hong Kong Asia Film Financing Forum.
